REVEREND VALERIE MIREB

Senior Pastor

Rev. Valerie Mireb is a United Methodist Minister who has served the church for the past 32 years.  She is a graduate of DePauw University with a Bachelor of Music and Texas Christian University with a Master of Divinity where she was awarded the Preaching Book Award. She has served in the North Texas Conference and the South Carolina Conference.  She has served in the capacity of Pastor to local churches, a chaplain to a United Methodist Women’s College (Columbia College), Director of Creative Arts and Music, as a Conference Mission Chair and a delegate to the World Methodist Conference.                                                                              

Valerie’s work has taken her to Israel, the West Bank, the Czech Republic, Russia, Slovakia, France, England, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Switzerland Canada and Mexico.  She truly believes in the Wesleyan view that “the world is our parish.”   Valerie recently (2018) received a $50,000 Eli Lily Foundation Sabbatical Grant that allowed her to spend four months studying Women in the Bible through art in Paris, London, Jerusalem, Dallas and Chicago.                                                                             

Valerie loves children and youth and believes that the church must reach out to these new generations with the timeless love of Jesus Christ.  She is thoroughly enjoying her new assignment at Grace UMC in Pickens, South Carolina.  She has been married to Johnny Mireb, a man from Nazareth, Galilee, Israel for 31 years.  Johnny is a tour guide for the Holy Land.  Together, they have a son Michael, a graduate of Furman University in Japanese who lives with his spouse in Chicago, Illinois.
