SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Joel Cannon Class was formed many years ago as the Young Married couple’s class. Throughout the years, the class has worked on many projects: The Dave and Ruth Garrison Scholarship Fund, Christmas tree and wreath sales, various church improvement projects, etc. They are currently completing our Winter Adult Bible Studies – “Power and Love”.

Beginning in March 2023, they will embark on a new Bible study that helps link Bible teachings to our everyday lives and the rules from John Wesley: “Do no harm. Do good. Stay in love with God.”

They would love for you to join them at 9:30am each Sunday. They meet upstairs at the end of the corridor in the new wing on the left. Their ages vary from 70 to 96 and includes both couples and singles. Everyone is welcome. Bill Shields is currently teaching this class.

The Morris Thompson Class is an energetic, innovative group- singles and married couples- from college age to fifties. They are truly a diverse group that likes to relate scripture to their personal lives at all levels: individual, family, parenting, careers, and personal ministries with the church as well as the community and the world. the strength of the class is its diverse makeup, resulting in discussions from many viewpoints. The class makes financial contributions to the Gleaning House and to persons in need. Members serve in many roles at Grace. Wide age range beginning with young adults.

The Joy Class uses The Bible for our literature. They study one book at a time breaking down the text looking at different translations. They use companion references to better understand the text and have discussions of how this applies to what was occurring at the time in history as well as how we apply the lesson to our lives. They welcome everyone to their class. They are of varying ages, with couples and singles. Everyone is welcome. The class is lead by volunteers from the class.

The Hawley Lynn Class is named for a former Grace pastor who was a steadfast, proponent of Race Relations long before it became accepted in the church. Over the years, the class has gone through many changes, from large to small, all ages, couples and singles, and with a variety of lesson materials. Presently it is a small group of older ladies who enjoy each other’s company and sharing of ideas and concerns. The class is presently using the standard Sunday School material. They would love to have anyone interested join them on Sunday mornings. The class is currently being taught by Barbara Hayse.

The Marvin Gravely Class is taught by various class members who alternate each Sunday. They are a group of adults ranging from 30-80, many who have been lifelong members of Grace. Their class member’s backgrounds and life experiences provide the basis of lively discussions as they explore their journey through life and how an understanding of our faith guides them. The support system of friendship and genuine concern provides comfort in times of need and joy. They continue to be active in our church missions and with the community.
